ERSU Scholarships in Medicine: requested the reopening of the terms for bureaucratic delays
Due to the lack of registration of traineeship credits by the Secretariat, many students risk exclusion from the ERSU call. The Morgana and O.R.U.M. associations intervene with a formal request for an extension.
A bureaucratic misalignment is likely to affect access to ERSU scholarships for many enrolled in the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery. The problem arises from an administrative delay in the registration of careers by the Student Secretariat: many university students, despite having regularly completed internships and exams by the deadline of 18 August 2026, find themselves without the relevant University Educational Credits (ECTS) uploaded to the booklet. This lack prevents them from formally attesting to the minimum merit requirements required by ERSU on the expiry date.
The formal request to the ERSU
To prevent students from suffering economic damage due to inefficiencies not attributable to any negligence in their academic path, the representatives of the morgana and O.R.U.M. associations have submitted an official request to the President of the ERSU, Dr. Alberto De Luca.
The document, signed by representatives Veronica Consentino, Marco Parisi, Francesco Cambria, Alessia Sceusa, Giorgia Blanco and Giuseppe Briguglio, makes two precise requests to protect the right to study:
Reopening of applications: allow Medical and Surgery students to apply for the scholarship as soon as their university career is effectively updated by the Secretariat.
Extension for appeals: Postpone the deadline for appeals or rectification requests, currently set for September 16, 2026. A time extension is necessary to guarantee students the time to regularize their positions and allow the accounting of earned credits.
Ensuring equal treatment and preventing purely bureaucratic obstacles from blocking the delivery of economic benefits are the top priorities of the intervention. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to ensure that the real academic situation of students is fully recognised.
